TGI Fridays Turns to Ruby Tuesday for New CEO

Skift Take

The jokes write themselves as executives shuffle between chains that are nearly indistinguishable from one another. But we'll state the obvious anyway: Fridays are better than Tuesdays.

TGI Fridays named a new CEO: Ray Blanchette, who started his career at the brand and worked there for 18 years. Blanchette was, since January, CEO at Ruby Tuesday.

“I started my career at TGI Fridays, where I worked for 18 years. I have great passion for this brand, and it is my dream job,” Blanchette said in a statement.

He succeeds Aslam Khan, who has served as TGI Fridays CEO since April 2017. Khan will remain with the brand as Vice Chairman.

TGI Friday’s is privately held by backers Sentinel Capital Partners and TriArtisan Capital Partners. It has over 870 restaurants in more than 55 countries.
