The cheeky categories and promises to be different (no doubt learned the hard way by the World's 50 Best founder) actually make this awards show sound fun.

This year's awards called out a broader range of talent and accomplishments than ever before and signaled that the industry is willing to work harder to identify achievements beyond its traditional comfort zones.
There's a progressive theme in many of Eater's national awards this year, helping to prove that food, people, and politics are inseparable.
Good for Troisgros, but we'd also be interested in a list like this where holding two or more Michelin stars is not the qualification necessary to participate.
