Back in the glory days of the late 1990s and early 2000s, P.F. Chang's was a fresh concept with fresh food. Under it's most recent private equity owners it wasn't fresh by any stretch. Success is no further than paying a bit more for better ingredients and staff.

There was a time when P.F. Chang's — both the brand and the food — just seemed wonderfully fresh. Anyone who has visited lately know that is no longer the case. And changing from one P.E. firm to another is not really the traditional way to reinvigorate a tired brand.

Under owner Centerbridge, P.F. Chang's has plummeted from a pretty solid casual concept with quality food to, well, the opposite. In a just world the PE firm will be punished financially for its poor choices.

Both brands in this headlines suffer from lack of consumer interest, market differentiation, or food items that anyone remembers. But sure, selling one off will solve all their problems.
